Wang Yi Meets with Foreign Secretary Subrahmanyam Jaishankar of India

On February 22, 2017, Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Foreign Secretary Subrahmanyam Jaishankar of India at Diaoyutai State Guesthouse.

Wang Yi welcomed Subrahmanyam Jaishankar to hold China-India Strategic Dialogue in China, and expressed that as two major developing countries and emerging economies, both China and India should enhance strategic communication and mutual trust and further give play to the potential of bilateral cooperation to make greater contributions to the peace and development of the region and the world. The Chinese side is willing to make joint efforts with India to well implement the consensus of leaders of both countries, expand the positive side of bilateral relations and properly control and solve differences as well as sensitive issues, so as to promote the healthy and stable development of bilateral relations.

Subrahmanyam Jaishanka expressed that bilateral relations have gone beyond the bilateral scope and enjoy global significance. Under the current international situation, India-China cooperation is not only conducive to the development of both countries, but will exert positive impacts on the future of Asia and even the world. The Indian side stands ready to maintain high-level exchanges, enhance cooperation in various fields, expand coordination and cooperation within multilateral mechanisms and prudently deal with disputes with China, so as to constantly push forward bilateral relations.
