Spring festival is the most important festival for the Chinese people, and it is the festival for family gathering. Today friendly people from China and Nepal co-celebrat the spring festival. Prime Minister Bhattarai and other distinguished guests attend the celebration. It fully illustrats the friendship between us. The leaders of our two countries often said that we are good neighbors, good partners and good brothers. Tonight's happy occasion convinced me that we are one big family. Chinese and Nepalese are like blood brothers and sisters.

Ambassador Yang stated that Chinese Premier Wen has just conducted a successful official visit to Nepal. During the meeting between Premier Wen and Prime Minister Bhattarai, Prime Minister Bhattarai said that Nepal and China share the Everest Mountain, and Nepal-China relations are higher than the Himalaya. Premier Wen fully agreed with this and added that China-Nepal relations are not only the highest but also the deepest. In the coming year, our two sides will make joint efforts to implement the consensus reached by leaders of the two countries, continue to consolidate the traditional friendship and deepen the mutually-benefit cooperation, so as to further promote the China-Nepal Comprehensive Cooperative Partnership featuring ever-lasting friendship.

H.E. Prime Minister Bhattarai

Prime Minister Bhattarai stated in his address that on behalf of the People and the Government of Nepal, I would like to congratulate all the friendly people and the Government of the People's Republic of China on this happy occasion of Spring Festival 2012. Our growing interactions at government-to-government and at people-to-people levels have contributed to further strengthen the bilateral relations in the political, economic and cultural fields. We are pleased to observe that China has made significant progress over the past couple of decades in the areas of economic development. The recent advances made by China in the social, economic and technological sectors are indeed well-deserved.

Prime Minister Bhattarai said that at this moment, I happily recall the recent visit of Chinese Premier His Excellency Mr. Wen Jiabao, which has taken our bilateral relations to a new height. The historical visit, managed effectively by our two sides, also remained commendable including the signing of the Agreement on Cultural Cooperation, inter alia, between Nepal and People's Republic of China. I believe that the Agreement will further enhance cultural exchanges and interactions among mass media, artists, actors, athletes, educationists and literatures between our two countries in the days ahead.

On the celebration, staff from Chinese Embassy, teachers and students from CIKU, Chinese volunteer teachers, and members from Arniko Society have gave performances such as China and Nepal dances, Peking-opera, etc. The wonderful performances and the big applause move the happy atmosphere to high once and again.
