On the evening of September 17, 2009, H.E. Mr. Qiu Guohong, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Nepal, hosted a reception in Kathmandu to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. Rt. Hon. Mr. Min Bahadur Rayamajhi, Chief Justice of Nepal, Rt. Hon. Mr. Subas Nembang, Chairman of the Constituent Assembly of Nepal, Hon. Ms. Sujata Koirala, Foreign Minister of Nepal, political leaders, heads of diplomatic missions, the local Chinese businessmen, patriotic Tibetans living in Nepal and volunteer Chinese teachers, totaling 700 people, attended the reception.

At the reception, guests congratulated Ambassador Qiu Guohong on the Chinese National Day, praised the achievements made by the Chinese Government and people in the past 60 years, and wished China-Nepal friendship to last forever. The books about China's achievements and development in Tibet and Xinjiang Autonomous Regions displayed outside the banquet hall were very popular.
