Chinese Ambassador Hou Yanqi Visit and Extend Birthday Wishes to Satya Mohan Joshi

On May 17th, Chinese Ambassador Hou Yanqi visited and extended birthday wishes to Nepali culture expert Satya Mohan Joshi on his 100th birthday. Chiri Babu Maharjan, mayor of Lalitpur Metropolitan City was present. Ambassador Hou appreciated his contribution to China-Nepal friendship and said we Chinese will never forget him. Ambassador Hou also encourage young generation to follow him as an example to commit to developing China-Nepal friendship from generation to generation.

Satya Mohan Joshi was born in 1920 in Lalitpur district of Nepal. He is a Nepali writer and scholar. In 1960, Joshi flew to China where he began to teach Nepali at the Peking Broadcasting Institute. In 1970, he worked in CRI as a Nepali expert. During his stay in China, he carried out research on Arniko, a sculptor of the Malla dynasty who migrated to China in early 1260 AD. He set up the Arniko White Pagoda Gallery in Kirtipur, Kathmandu, using historical artifacts related to Arniko.
