H.E. Ambassador Mr. Yang Houlan and Deputy Prime Minister Mr. Shrestha Jointly Attended Interaction Program on Sino-Nepal Relations

On January 4, 2013, an interaction program was held by Nepal-China Media Forum. H.E. Ambassador Mr. Yang Houlan, Deputy Prime Minister & Foreign Minister Mr. Shrestha, Nepal-China Media Forum President Mr. Kishor Shrestha, Nepal China Culture and Education Council Chairman Mr. Harish Shah, FNJ president Shiva, and almost 70 former political leaders, senior editors, columnists, and journalists attended the interaction program.

Ambassador Yang delivered a keynote speech. He shared his views and analysis on the status and development prospects of China-Nepal relations, including Nepal's position in China's neibouring diplomacy, the status quo of China-Nepal relations, the future prospects for the development of the China-Nepal relations and ideas for promoting the Sino-Nepalese relations. Yang believed that the broad prospects for the development of China-Nepal relations and mutually beneficial cooperation have great potential. The two sides should strengthen high-level contacts and exchanges, expand pragmatic cooperation, expand cultural exchanges, strengthen cooperation on regional and international affairs, and continue to deepen and enrich the bilateral comprehensive cooperative partnership.

DPM Mr. Shrestha agreed with Ambassador Yang's points. He held that Nepal and China has been of mutual trust, mutual support. The friendship and cooperative relations have been smooth and healthy. He said that Nepal would adhere to the one-China policy, and strive to benefit from the high-speed development of China. He hoped Nepalese media could play a more active role in promoting Nepal-China relations.

Ambassador Yang also answered questions of China-Nepal economic cooperation and issues related to Tibet.
