Notice on Adjusting Health Code Requirements(Updated November 13th, 2022)

In accordance with the updates of the Chinese government’s policy of Covid-19, starting from now, the Chinese Embassy in Nepal shall adjust the requirements for passengers applying for the Health Code to China.

1. Passengers shall take 1 PCR test within 48 hours before departure and apply for a Health Code to the Embassy.

2. Passengers departing from Nepal and transiting to China via a third country, or departing from a third country and transiting to China via Nepal, shall take 1 PCR test either at the origin or transit place within 48 hours before departure, and apply for a Health Code to the Chinese Embassy or Consulate where the PCR test is taken. Transit passengers only need to ensure that the Health Code is still valid when boarding the plane at the last transit point (when taking the direct flight to China).

3. There are no extra requirements for passengers with a history of COVID-19 infection and close contact, suspected symptoms, and PCR test results showing Presumptive Positive and Equivocal results. All passengers can apply for a Health Code with 1 Negative PCR test result within 48 hours before departure.

4. Please apply for a Health Code to the Embassy in time after obtaining the negative PCR test report. The application before 22:00 will generally receive the result within the same day. If you have not received the verification result of the Health Code when you check in at the airport, please call the embassy's consular hotline, or ask the relevant airline for help.

The application documents are as below:

1). 1 PCR test report within 48 hours before boarding, no testing agency designated, only the testing agency officially recognized by Nepal government;

2). Flight ticket (travel itinerary) to China;

3). Visa to China(or Chinese residence permit / Chinese permanent residence card).

In order to jointly safeguard the health and safety of passengers on board, the Embassy reminds passengers traveling to China to remain aware of pandemic prevention, conduct pre-departure health management & PCR test, and apply for a Health Code once receiving the negative PCR test report. Inbound passengers should abide by China's testing, quarantine and other requirements. (Please consult with the Customs or Health authorities at the place of entry for details).
