Right Honorable His Excellency Mr. Subash Nemwang, Chairman of Constituent Assembly of Nepal,
Honorable His Excellency Mr. Chhatra Man Singh Gurung, Chief of Army Staff of Nepal Army,
Distinguished guests, Ladies and Gentlemen,
At the invitation of Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai of Nepal, Premier Wen Jiabao of the State Council of the People's Republic of China paid an official visit to Nepal on 14 January, 2012. With the joint efforts and coordinative cooperation of Chinese and Nepalese sides, the visit was a complete success. On behalf of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Nepal, I would like to extend my sincere thanks and appreciation to the Government and the People of Nepal, especially to those who were directly involved in the preparing and receiving the Chinese Premier's visit.
Premier Wen's visit is the first official visit by Chinese premier to Nepal during the past decade, which is of great significance to the China-Nepal relations. To ensure a successful visit, your esteemed Nepali side has made detailed and thoughtful arrangements for the political, protocol, security and all the other aspects of the official visit. You have overcome large amount of difficulties and paid a lot of hardships. Your efforts are highly appreciated by the Chinese side. Prime Minister Dr. Bhattarai presided over a grand welcome ceremony with the attendance of Chairman Mr. Nemwang, two Deputy Prime Ministers, some ministers and senior military leaders and generals of Nepali side. The high-profile hospitality given by the Nepali side is heartedly appreciated by Premier Wen Jiabao. To ensure the security of the visit, Nepali army, police, armed police and other forces made a thorough plan and took effective measures. All the above arrangements and efforts indicated that the Nepali government and people attach great importance to Nepal-China relations. Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao and the Chinese people are really moved by these efforts.
Although Premier Wen's visit is not a long one, the visit is very fruitful. During the visit, Premier Wen called on President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav, held talks with Prime Minister Dr. Bhattarai, and met with the senior leaders of major political parties of Nepal. Both sides had an in-depth exchange of views and reached broad consensus on Nepal-China relations as well as common-concerned issues. The two sides issued a joint statement, signed eight cooperative agreements on economic assistance, cultural cooperation, border areas management, trans-frontier pasturing by border inhabitants, the cooperation between the two Foreign Ministries and so on. Now the Chinese and the Nepalese unanimously agree that this visit has become a great milestone in our bilateral relations, and will definitely deepen our mutually-beneficial cooperation and good-neighbored friendship. I hope, our two sides could make full use of this golden opportunity for our bilateral relations, continue our mutual cooperation and support, and make joint efforts to implement the consensus reached by leaders of the two countries, so as to further promote the China-Nepal Comprehensive Cooperative Partnership.
Once again, I would like to express my sincere thanks and appreciation to every Nepali friend, wish you happy New Year and may China-Nepal Friendship last forever!
